Pro Players Classic Golf Tournament 2010
The Pro Player Classic (PPC) was created in 1999 to be a conduit for educational scholarships and needed assistance to underprivileged Indigenous Youth. The success of the program to date is the result of a dedicated Founder & Co-Founder (Dave Smoot), a score of committed volunteers, the support of very loyal sponsors and the immeasurable assistance of the greater Phoenix community.
This year, the PPC has teamed up with Thunderbird, School of Global Management, the No. 1-ranked school of International business will be the Title Sponsor for our tournament on December 3rd and 4th 2010.
Through this event, one or more scholarships will be given to eligible U.S. Military personnel to attend Thunderbird. The highly visible PPC Tournament is one of Arizona’s most popular annual celebrity golf events and the scholarship funds raised through the PPC will allow U.S. Servicemen/women to apply for degree and certification programs alike,” states Aram Chavez, Thunderbird ’08.
Dave Smoot, (Co-Founder of the PPC) points out Thunderbirds sponsorship reflects its heritage: “Thunderbird was originally a military base and following World War II (1946) the school became the first school of business to focus exclusively on international management, this brings Thunderbird back to its roots and reflects its commitment to our Military community .”
Tee off for the 13th annual PPC will be held on December 4th, 2010, at the Terravita Golf and Country Club in Scottsdale. The PPC offers the opportunity to meet and golf with legendary professional athletes and celebrities from Hollywood, NFL, NHL, PGA NBA and MLB. More than 130 golfers and 30+ former professional athletes and celebrities will participate in the charitable fund-raising “We are extremely excited to have a prestigious organization to partner with us,” said Dave Smoot, co-founder of the Tournament. “Their alumni represent a who’s who in the world in international business.”
